A Little Food, A little fashion
Let's face it, running around Berlin in rediculously cold tempertures in January is slightly crazy. But, fashion has it's price. After about a week of that and surviving on coffee and champagne, Fier Showroom's press dinner was a welcomed change. Up just one flight of stairs (also a bit a relief) waited a beautifully styled 4 course dinner by Julia Ward and a fashion presentation showcasing Black Balloon, Julia Theobalt, Miryaki, Tesj, Vibe Johansson, Yeashin Kim and Sasha Kanevski.
And the dinner was just the beginning. Through the week, Fier Showroom (a pop-up for Berlin Fashion Week) presented thirteen upcoming avant-garde and contemporary fashion and accessories designers. The choice of labels undergoes a thorough background check to ensure the highest quality in terms of both design and materials. The designers taking part were: Black Balloon [BE], Charlotte Valkeniers [UK], El Colmillo de Morsa [ES], Eniko Toth Kern [HU], Franziska Kassama [DE], Heidi Mottram [UK], Julia Theobalt [DE], Sasha Kanevski [UA], Shrekahnth [AE], Tesj [NL], Vasso Consola [GR], Vibe Johansson [DK] and Yeashin Kim [KR].
There was also a performance and installation by Dr. Jessica Bugg [UK] as well as an installation by Iris Schieferstein [DE]. The public was able to see a fashion photogra-phy exhibition A Room with a View curated by the Fier team. The photographers taking part were: Damien Vignaux, Kerstin Jacobssen, Marqueritte Oelofse and Valquier Veljkovic.
My favorite part though was of course the dinner. There's nothing like playing with a poppy seed filled plate accompanied by pomegranate seeds and beet slices while having stoic models show choice pieces from next seasons collections. But that's just me.
